About Me

South Africa
My husband, Brett and I live in beautiful South Africa and have been blessed with the most precious family. We have 2 very beautiful and brave daughters, Tianna and Angelee and a very precious little boy called Zac who touched our hearts forever in his 1 day here on earth. We never would have imagined that we would have to live this side of Heaven without our sweet boy who was born with half a heart, but every day Jesus carries us through and is teaching us more than ever how to live, laugh and love fully. A year and a half later, our faithful Great Restorer graciously blessed us once again with another son ... our beloved Gabriel ... a ray of sunshine in all our lives! This blog has been a place where I have been able to journal my journey through loss, hope and choosing to live a life rich in love.

A little honesty

I was so touched to receive this little blog-award from a very precious friend, Adeye Salem, who is a missionary in the US.  She has the most inspiring blog that I read almost everyday. When you have a chance, go check it out at http://www.nogreaterjoymom.com. I know that it will minister to you as much as it does to me.

Thinking about honesty ... lately I have been thinking about how easy it is to hide in plain sight of one another. Yesterday I was so touched when I met with a new friend and within 2 minutes the tears were pouring down her cheeks as she made herself vulnerable to share some of the hurts she has been carrying for so long. Sitting there together, watching God begin to bathe her in His love, I was so overwhelmed by His delight at what happens when we let our guards down and allow His love to reach our "broken" places. How He longs to bring His light and freedom into every area of our lives - especially the places of darkness that we hide from everyone. This precious new friend and I were able to pray and allow God to remove the heaviness that silence loads us with. I would never have guessed what she had been going through ... until she took that brave step of honesty and allowed God's light in.  It has inspired me to live more openly ... in the light ... with God and those around me. His light is truth which brings in such awe-inspiring freedom!!! How warm it is out here in the direct sunshine of His light :-) So much better than the cold-darkness satan tries to hide us in. Let His glorious light warm every part of your life today!

"Doing Life" together ...

It's been a while since I last wrote. My sister and I went to the U.S. for 2 weeks to spend time with my precious mom who has been there for 3 1/2 years. Wow - how much I have missed her ... and now being home after "doing life" together for 2 weeks - I miss her even more. The preciousness (a Jan word!) of my awesome God is that He has made a way for us to visit her each year that she has been there ... and with each visit, I come away with the sweetest memories. Our whole time together was coated with His great love.

Thinking back on this special time together, I can't help but smile as I see how much God delights in "doing life" with us each day. He is the greatest lover - He knows just how to melt our hearts over with His precious surprises which are so unique to each of us. Each day I could not help but smile at the way He poured out His love on each of us. He surprised my sis with a babyshower from people that we are just really starting to get to know ... and to add His special touch - they gave her the baby-bag that she has had her heart set on for ages! To see her face was priceless. Being the shoe-lover that I am ... He hooked me up with such a special deal :-) I found the cutest pair of designer heels on a sale marked down from $130 - $20!!! He saved that one last pair just for me :-) ... in fact - I recon they were made just for me - hee hee
God provided for all of us from every angle in the most remarkable ways. We have been lavished with His love from every angle: awesome / extravagant pressies (mom you are so precious!); priceless moments spent together; precious new friends; heart-to-heart chats; laugh-to-you-cry moments; amazing food; the privilege of experiencing "River Dance" live; phenomenal weather; my first 4th July in the US; ridiculous sales :-) ... it was just so full!!
I have to share this one last story. Every time I have gone to stay with my mom, out on the deck outside I have seen a Hummingbird. I don't know what it is about those little birds - but they make me stand in awe of my awesome Creator. So this holiday I kept my eyes peeled ... but no Hummingbird. It was closing in on our holiday and I said to the Lord at breakfast just how much I would love to see His little creature. As I was about to go out onto the deck, I sensed His caution to sit inside and watch through the window. I sat down and waited. 7 minutes later a Hummingbird flew right to the potted flowers outside the door!! My eyes just welled up as I sensed His broad smile and such a depth of love ... that He would bring that little bird right before me ... just for me?! My sister came downstairs and I told her the story while we sat outside (she knew how much I wanted to see that little bird). As we sat there ANOTHER little Hummingbird flew right up to where we were sitting outside and fed from the flowers for almost 2 minutes. Then it turned straight towards us, hovered in the air for a few seconds and flew away. We were awestruck! Such a demonstration of His direct love for us!!!
Let me please encourage you today ... this awesome, almighty God that watches over all of us knows even the smallest desires of our hearts. How He longs to demonstrate His love towards us! He waits on us to invite His action by our faith in Him ... and then He unleashes the wonderful currents of His love to enfold us.
During this time I had away, I never heard any prophetic words ... I didn't even get to spend much time studying the Scriptures, but I have come away changed forever by the revelation and experience of His presence and goodness in my everyday life with Him. I have come away knowing that each day, His desire is to "do life" with me. I see Him doing that with my mom all those thousands of miles away ... and so I have peace and rest. While He is attending to my heart that misses my special mom - He is at the very same time "Doing Life" with her on the other side of the World. I just love Him!!
